City of Newark, California Administration Building

The City of Newark's Administration Building will house the city's many services, including Development Services, the City Clerk's Department, and the City Council Chambers. With the building shell and footprint provided, the main task was to create a cohesive flow between spaces while implementing the design intent.

The design concept was informed by the International Style, with its characteristic use of free plans, honest use of materials, useable roof space, and defining interior space but not constricting them. This style occurred at a time when architects, artists, designers, engineers, and humans in general were craving change from how everything had previously been done.

Pivot is a verb meaning to completely change the way in which one does something. It means being adaptable to change.
